This is the next location in Borneo Kalimantan for traveller around the world. In this location especially in Borneo, traveller who get there have a scientific urgent or matter as a reason because Borneo Kalimantan has a lot of potential of it. Located in the heart of Borneo or rather in Kapuas Hulu, West Kalimantan, Pocono Lake Sentarum which is a complex of lakes consisting of 20 small pieces of a large lake, since 1999 designated as a National Park Lake Sentarum (TNDS) and have an area 132,000 hectares. Located 700 kilometers northeast of the city of Pontianak, the TNDS consists of 89,000 acres of swamp forest and 43,000 hectares of land were flooded.

Sentarum lake so different from lake 'conventional' other, because the lake is a true Sentarum overlay area flooded (lowland lebung / floodplain). With the location and condition are in the middle of the mountain range make this area a catchment. In the rainy season Sentarum Lake Complex will be submerged in water due to the flow of water from the surrounding mountains and flood the Kapuas River is the longest river in Indonesia. During 9-10 months of the year, Sentarum Lakes region will be submerged to a depth of 6-14 meters. Stored estimated 16 trillion cubic meters of water per year in this region. And unique to the long dry season, most of the lake was dry.

The lake was formed during the Ice Age or the Pleistocene period has a rich flora and fauna do not possess extraordinary and other areas. Flora course there are 510 species and 33 species are endemic DSNP, including 10 species of them are new species.
Mammals there are 141 species in DSNP. Approximately 29 species of which are endemic species, and 64 percent of the endemic mammals of Borneo. There are 266 species of fish, about 78 percent of which are freshwater fish endemic to Borneo. Lakes National Park neighborhood Sentarum listed as one of the most comprehensive freshwater fish habitats in the world.

In addition to a great forest and a habitat for bees, TNDS also a habitat for many species of freshwater fish. In terms of size, for example, there is the smallest species of fish, known as fish Linut (sundasalanx cf. Microps) measuring 1-2 centimeters in body transparent like glass, measuring up to two meters long fish like fish of the genus Wallago Tapah.

The economically valuable fish and in the consumption of the citizens, for instance, there are fish cork, toman, baung, lais, belida, and jelawat. Special ornamental fish, there are fish in DSNP silok or Arowana (Scleropages formosus) and and Re-uli (Botia macracranthus) who managed to penetrate the international market and has a high economic value. The region recorded at least 120 species of fish, and there are some species that are owned by the Lake Sentarum only in the sense not found in other parts of the world.
